The Algorand Foundation has announced that a new roadmap for the network will be released in July.
While no specific dates have been confirmed, the roadmap is anticipated to outline strategic plans for 2025 and 2026.
This announcement comes during a period of transition for the Algorand ecosystem, as it faces the departure of two significant network users, FIFA Collect and TravelX. Is the network able to bounce back effectively?
ALGO Network Growth Amid Project Departures
Despite recent setbacks, on-chain data from Nansen reveals that Algorand led in active address growth last week, indicating strong underlying user activity.
However, this growth contrasts with notable declines in its DeFi sector, following the exit of prominent projects. FIFA Collect, which previously ran on Algorand, has migrated to the Avalanche network.

The project cited a need for EVM compatibility and broader scalability, especially with the upcoming FIFA World Cup. By moving to AVAX and launching its own “FIFA Chain.”
Since moving to AVAX, users have reported increased transaction fees and slower processing times on Avalanche compared to their previous experience on Algorand, with issues that were not prevalent prior to the migration.
Holders have since tried to point and place blame within the Algorand ecosystem for FIFA Collects’ departure. Similarly, TravelX has also left Algorand, albeit for different reasons.

TravelX, a platform focused on tokenizing airline tickets to reduce costs for the travel industry, has also left the Algorand ecosystem. The company announced a complete withdrawal from the crypto industry, shifting its focus to private infrastructure solutions.
In response, the Algorand Foundation disclosed efforts to retain TravelX on-chain, including offering reduced fees, despite the network already being recognized for minimal fees.
ALGO holders expressed disappointment at the departure of TravelX, which, alongside real estate tokenization platform Lofty, was considered one of the key real-world asset innovators on Algorand.
The Resilience of Algorand DeFi
While the loss of high-profile partners has drawn concerns, Algorand remains home to a resilient and innovative DeFi landscape. Projects such as AlphaArcade, immersve, Lofty, Tinyman, Folks Finance, and ANote Music continue to leverage Algorand’s infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the upcoming roadmap is expected to address these recent shifts and provide a clear strategic direction. During the initial announcement, there was confusion over whether the roadmap would originate from Algorand Technologies or the Algorand Foundation.

Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden has since confirmed that the Foundation will be publishing the roadmap, with anticipated contributions from both the Foundation and Algorand Technologies.
Founder Silvio Micali is also preparing to unveil a new chain known as the Fiat Chain, which will build on top of Algorand’s current network. This chain will specifically focus on stablecoin use cases and enterprise adoption.
The initiative comes as the GENIUS Act, a regulatory framework addressing tokenized assets and stablecoins, is expected to pass.
The Outlook of the Algorand Ecosystem
Despite the loss of FIFA Collect and TravelX, Algorand remains well-positioned to capitalize on its core strengths: low-cost, reliable transaction processing and a growing base of developers and users.

The steady increase in staking addresses and active wallets suggests that confidence in the network’s fundamentals remains strong.
The forthcoming roadmap will be a critical opportunity for the Algorand Foundation to demonstrate its long-term vision, rebuild momentum, and reassure the ALGO community that the network is ready to move forward with more focus.
